Young Edison TV Show

September 30, 20251 min read

The eighth season of “Young Edison”, titled “Tomorrow’s World”, is a youth science talent show. With the theme “Innovation and Dreams Know No Borders”, this season selected 16 teams from over 40 countries and regions. After expert evaluations and screenings, 9 contestants were chosen to form three major teams—Ecology, Energy, and Machinery. I was honored to be selected as the Captain of the Ecology Team, leading my teammates to the Yadan landform area in Eboliang, Qinghai, also known as Lenghu Mars Town, the most Mars-like place on Earth. There, we undertook a 72-hour extreme challenge of imagination and innovation in a simulated extraterrestrial environment. Not only did we collaborate to develop an “Extraterrestrial Survival Plan”, but we also created a scientific invention within the limited time to test the possibilities of human interstellar migration.

I was challenged to tackle the question of how to make Mars inhabitable. I led a team of three, and we designed and prototyped an ecological cycle demonstration system called Super Pea. The project explored intelligent irrigation, smart farming, and water cycle management to simulate a sustainable base for extraterrestrial living. We completed preliminary modeling of the base, showcasing how integrated technologies could foster a self-sustaining ecosystem under extreme conditions.
