Equestrian in Campus

September 14, 20251 min read

Equestrian sports are gaining increasing attention among students in Shanghai. The “Equestrianism in Campus” initiative, launched by the Shanghai Municipal Education Commission, aims to promote equestrian activities through school clubs and inter-school competitions, fostering qualities such as compassion and perseverance among young people.

Starting in 2019 with 240 students from eight pilot schools, the program had expanded to 16 schools by 2023, allowing more and more students to experience and develop a deep passion for this captivating and dynamic sport.

By integrating sports with education, this model has transformed equestrianism from an elite sport into an approach for holistic development, enhancing the overall competencies of adolescents. As a young equestrian athlete, I have actively joined this public welfare promotion program. Besides my own training, I serve weekly as a assistant coach at the equestrian club, helping students learn horse care, riding techniques, and safety protocols. I lead stable tours, facilitate lessons on equine anatomy, and emphasize the importance of human-animal collaboration.

My involvement even led to a news interview, and my story has been featured by multiple media outlets. I hope to share the culture and spirit behind equestrian sports with more young people and carry forward the important values of inclusivity and mutual success
